Wilkens released a statement through a public relations agency less than a month after being demoted from team president. "After much contemplation, I have decided to resign from my position as Vice Chairman of the Seattle SuperSonics . My passion for this city and this franchise has never wavered, but I feel that my position within the organization did not develop the way that I thought it would," he said in the statement. To be honest this is about the only move from Bennett that I like. He thought that Lenny ties in the community would help him receive the necessary funding for an arena. Lenny thought that b/c of his ties he could be the final say in all basketball related decisions. They both overestimated Lenny's impact on the organization and when Lenny started making his own demands the boss didn't feel that he was worth the trouble. To be honest I would have done the same thing. Lenny Wilkins, at his age, isn't the answer to anyone problems. At this stage in his life he is more like the cause.
