Wrote a note Monday about Meyers Leonard's 3-pt shooting ability, revealing that he once chimed the bell at practice after hitting 21 of 25.

    Joe Freeman ‏@BlazerFreeman
Apparently, I undersold him. He said today he's hit the bell multiple times - including today, when he hit 20 of 25 in a practice drill.>>>>>

Please don't turn into Channing Frye.

Poor man's LaMarcus Aldridge as his ceiling?

He's a lot more scrappy close to the basket though

Pau Gasol doesn't really fly like Leonard does

That would be awesome, but throw some Ibaka into the mix because of the athleticism.

Still, the guy has a nice ceiling.

At 7'1.25" 270+ lbs. (as he fills out) the last thing I'd want him to do is shoot jumpers.

    P&R and back-to-the-basket only!

Pau Gasol, sans vagina... that would be pretty awesome!

A long way to go to get to that level, but it will be fun to watch him develop over the next few years.

I thought the bell ringing was for free throws, not 3pts?

Pau Gasol's post game is so refined it's not even worth making that comparison imo

I'm not sure Leonard is going to be much of a back to the basket guy, which is fine because today's NBA doesn't really call for a lot of that.

I think he's shown some good toughness so far though and will be able to get pts in the paint off rebounds and dunks.

Yeah, I don't fully understand Stott's use of the bell. Going by what Freeman said, the bell could be used for both drills.

I don't have a problem with center who can hit the 3. I wouldn't mind him setting top-of-key picks for Dame and then waiting out there and dropping catch-and-shoot trey's because his man doesn't respect his outside game. Plus, it might be nice to have a center who is an outside threat, because it could open up the middle for Lillard drives or LA posts.

I think anyone who expects Leonard to be a real inside threat this year is going to be disappointed. Aside from "garbage-man" offense, he's probably more likely to actually make a contribution from the perimeter than from the post.

1.) Leonard is 20 years old. With his work ethic, there's no reason why he can't refine his skills to that level over the next 5 years.

2.) Watching him play in person twice now, he's the tools to shoot baby hooks over people all day long with some practice. Good hands to boot.

3.) Rebounds and Dunks are the tip of the iceburg for his potential.

    *Good rebounder
    *Good passer/court vision
    *Capable shooter
    *Developing post-game.

Factor in his size, maybe his ceiling is something like an Ilgauskas type.

    Maybe a Robin/Brook Lopez

Brook Lopez has a nice jumper

Leonard's athleticism makes him different, though

I hope he can develop a post game like Brook but neither come close to Meyers athleticism or his passing (potential?). That makes a huge difference IMO.

Meyers may one day become a poor mans young Sabas. Of course, by then, ML will not be young.
