Jamal Crawford is the NBA's sixth-leading preseason scorer at 18.5 points per game. The Bulls' point guard plans to use the final two practice games to knock himself down a few notches.

"If I had 4 to 6 points and 9 or 10 assists, I think they'd be happy," Crawford said of his coaches after Monday's practice. "I've just really got to concentrate on getting others involved."

A few days ago, Crawford actually led the league in assists, with 7.6 in the preseason. Then he was benched for the entire fourth quarter of Saturday's loss to Milwaukee after totaling 17 points and 3 assists.

Following the game, coach Bill Cartwright didn't have much to say about the decision, but he expounded on the topic Monday.

"Jamal goes through what a lot of talented young guys go through," Cartwright said. "It is one of his final hurdles where he's got to be able to balance what we want to what he wants.

"We want him to be a penetrator. Jamal knows he's a shooter. For us, it's best that he penetrates, not only for himself, but to create for others. When he does that, he is very formidable as a guard. When he settles (for outside shots), he's not. That's what we're trying to get across to him now."

Haha, I like how the author called Crawford's arms "freakishly long". Anyways, he certainly dished the ball out more tonight vs. the Raptors. He had 9 points, 9 assists, and only 3 turnovers.
