Ok I am considering a big change in my life right now.I am considering going back to uni/college and studying engineering. This would mean re-doing 6months of highschool first (not because I didn't pass the first time just because I did the wrong subjects)I hate my current job and want to move into something else. The Pro's I'm only 25 - 30 by the time I finish and my starting salary would be roughly 55k audmy wife supports the decision.I would have more time for my kids over the next few year.the consI am 25I would be on alot less money for 5 yearsthere are plenty of other pro's and conjs but you get the idea.I am torn - should I shutup and just stick at my current job/career or should I take the opportunity to make a change? Please help
If you really can't stand your job then I would make a career change. In order to be successful you need to enjoy going to work every day. It's not to late to make a big change in your life.
it's some scary ass sh*t though - I have 2 kids. I mean they wont starve or really miss oiut but sh*t im scared!
That is a huge change - but you are still a young guy and if you really hate your job enough to consider making a drastic change like this - than do it. The thing is - you have to do extremely well in college - and that's easier to say than do. So if you think you can do well in college, and get a better job - than def do it.
yeah to steal a line from Cinderella man "this time I know what im fighting for"ya know- Yeah I think being a bit older I wont get caught up in the whole college lifestyle thing- partying and what not.
I'm pretty much agreeing with everyone on here and saying go ahead and go back to school. It'll be one of those things that you could regret not doing for the rest of your life. Plus, there is no use in doing something that you dont like. If your not happy, your not really living. I almost garuntee that if you dont do this now, in 5 years you'll wish you would of. Anyways, best to luck to you no matter what you do. :happy0144:
Well, I'm wondering:When you say "go back to highschool for 6 months," do you mean you'll actually go to a 9-12th graders' highschool or will you be taking high school classes over the net/in a certain highschool where only certain students attend (I.e. dudes who don't have enough credits to pass highschool)?

I think you should go for it man. If you're truly not happy with your current job and are serious about going back to school and getting a better job (ultimately), then you should definitely do it. You said you're wife supports the decision, which is great, and you already know that it is going to be tougher financially over the next few years. However, it's all about what you want... and I say go for it.Good luck man.
Go for it, but how much less money do you make? Could your wife work a little more since she supports this?

yeah its like thisI go back and get better grades in physics chemistry and Calculus - so 6months doing snr year of high school-0 at a place for peole who have either left shcool or have been booted out of shcool.I think my wife will probably work. Ultimately if I work in my current job hard over the next 5-6 years I will be on about 55=60K if I go to uni/college I'll start on that in 5 years with a capacity of 3-4 times that so I really have a lot to gain.I think it will be really tough to get in seeing as it is 8 years since I left school and have forgotten most of school things I have done.
No question make the change Clangus. You only live one life and if you want to do something like this, then go for it. No regrets later on.
