: Damian Lillard’s extension with Blazers is done, I’m told: designated player max between five years $125-29 million. A payday in Portland. Sam Amick @sam_amick 2m2 minutes ago Between Damian Lillard's Adidas deal ($100 million-plus) & extension ($125-129 million. tough to argue with work of his @GoodwinSports reps Sam Amick @sam_amick 9m9 minutes ago There are no options on the Damian Lillard deal with Portland, I'm told. All five years guaranteed.
@Dame_Lillard: Thank you so much to @PaulGAllen and the @Trailblazers organization I'll be in #RipCity 6 more years! Oakland to Ogden to Oregon..TO STAY [emoji440]
You don't see that too often in sports anymore. I can't remember the last 4-5 year deal that's been with no player options. Dude's rolling in it, now. ALl guaranteed. Damn.
How is that a dig? LMA signed the same type of deal during his rookie contract. When Lillard is here for 9 years he might feel the same way LMA does.
I remember a quote by LA last year that has been stuck in my head the past few days and now it all makes sense. It was about being the best blazer of all time and breaking the records to which he responded "Even if I do I've got a guy next to me saying he's just gonna break them when I retire". Aldridge knows it's true, and it is. Dame is the freaking man, all hail.
$125 +$100 shoe deal make $225 mil. Say he lives for 60 more years, or about 21915 days. That $10,267/day to spend every day for the rest of his life.
C'mon, folks - a little reality check here. Lillard didn;t sign that extention out of loyalty or love, but the fact that the Blazers offered him a contract that has him set for life, and he will be - perhaps momentarily - the highest paid guard in the NBA. (Cue Curry's agent). Does Lillard like to be here? I'd imagine so, but remember that public relations is a huge part in marketing sports, so the Blazers are making every effort to swaddle this baby in terms of the aforementioned love & loyalty, especially since the Blazers are shipping off 95% of the fan favorites NOT named Lillard.
