"All is going swell for the Broncos.

    And now here comes D.J.

A starting Broncos linebacker from the first game of his rookie season in 2004 until he sat out the first nine games this season to serve two separate suspensions, D.J. Williams was reinstated to the team Monday. He is expected to be formally activated on the 53-man roster in the next day or two and practice with the team Wednesday.

"They could have gone a different route, and they decided to keep me around," Williams said Monday in front of his Broncos locker. "I'm thankful for that. Now that I'm back, I'll just do what I have to do to help the team win."

The Broncos are 6-3, having won their past four. Williams was first suspended six games for failing a performance-enhancing drug test administered shortly after the lockout ended in 2011. The league slapped him with a second, three-game suspension after he was convicted of a driving while ability impaired charge by a Denver jury Aug. 15.

Although Williams led the Broncos in tackles in the three previous seasons, do not expect him to immediately return as a starting linebacker. Not only did Williams miss this season's first nine games, Broncos coach John Fox didn't play him in the preseason or give him reps in training camp as he got replacements ready."
