"The Detroit Lions will be without two key players for Sunday's game against the New York Jets. Safety C.C. Brown will not play because of a right knee injury, and coverage specialist Isaiah Ekejiuba is out with a left knee injury, according to the team's official injury report. Rookie Amari Spievey will make his second start of the season in Brown's place. He played the final 12 minutes of last Sunday's win over the Washington Redskins, but has seen minimal action in the secondary since moving from cornerback to safety earlier this year. "We all believe he can do it, there's no doubt," defensive coordinator Gunther Cunningham said Thursday of Spievey. "His biggest problem is he doesn't want to let (secondary coach Tim Walton) and I down, or Jim Schwartz. And so what I told him, I said this is about you.
