The BC Lions Football Club announced today that import defensive back Trestin George has been released at the request of the player. "Trestin is dealing with ongoing medical situation within his family and has asked for his release from the club so that he can remain in the Oakland area," said Lions GM and head coach Wally Buono. "By releasing Trestin, he can not only remain close to his family during this time, but also continue to have an opportunity to support them by playing for the San Jose SabreCats of the AFL. We're disappointed that he will not be with our organization, but we support his decision to put family ahead football at this point in his career." George appeared in 16 games over two seasons with the Lions and recorded 39 defensive tackles.
