BowerLito Sheppard, left, ties up wide receiver Jamaal Jones during practice at Eagles training camp. Lito Sheppard doesn't think a two-time Pro Bowl defensive back should have to audition for a starting job, but that is exactly what he is being asked to do. The late February signing of Asante Samuel from the Patriots to the richest contract ever awarded to an Eagles defensive player and the emergence of Sheldon Brown has caused a crowded defensive backfield in Philadelphia. "I feel like I am a Pro Bowl-caliber player, so why wouldn't I be starting?,'' Sheppard asked rhetorically. Sheppard is working his way back from a knee injury and is anxious to prove himself. "I just want to go out and show everybody that I am healthy, I am who I say I am and that I can still play this game at a high level,'' Sheppard said. "I am going to let that speak for itself.''
