I was reading my son some nursery rhymes and came qcross Little Jack Horner. The first lines are "Little Jack Horner sat in a corner, eating his christmas pie." I remember it being humble pie not christmas pie.
How, exactly, does one pull a plum out of humble pie? It was always Christmas pie for me. However, I'd be curious to hear if it was indeed originally "humble", and about a child who was being disciplined.
Wow--treasure trove of information about this rhyme. So much more to it than I ever knew. http://medadvocates.org/celebrati/january/jan_09.htm
Your parents were cruel. I can tell. Would you like to tell us all about it? We're just your school, we can't put anyone in jail.
Little Jack Horner = Trump. Nothing humble about him. Nothing good about him, but he thinks he's awesome. barfo
I'm glad I read this. The information about humble pie being a punishment for kids was really interesting. Thanks for posting it.
