Hey if you go to the warriors website There's going to be a live chat for questions about the upcoming draft. http://www.nba.com/warriors/ It starts at 4pm
http://www.nba.com/warriors/news/mullin_draft_061704.html Chris Mullin Draft Chat June 17, 2004 Chris Mullin: Thank you to everyone for joining. I probably won't be able to get to all of your answers, but we'll do our best. Ron (Oakland): do you feel there is a potential player at the 11th pick that can push our team into a playoff berth? Or do you depend on the development of our core group more and take a chance with a highly-touted yet unproven foreign or high school player? Chris Mullin: To me it's about the individual. You look at that player and what I feel about him and how he fits with us. Whether he is a four year college player, international or high school Ryan: What is your opinion on taking a high school player in the draft? Chris Mullin: That's kind of the same question. With a high school player it becomes a different evaluation that with say a four-year player. With a four-year player you have obviously more data to base a decision on. You don't know how a high school player will react in pressure situation when he his team was 50-0. To me, it's all about how he will fit in with out team. Scott Brode (San Francisco): Mully, now that we have a largely new front office, can the Warriors have a more open policy talking to the media about potential draftees. I seem to remember a very tight lipped policy under Saint when discussing draft workouts. Chris Mullin: We are trying to keep some things to ourselves and some things we have elected not to share with the media as a policy this time of year. Steven Y. (Fresno): Mr. Mullin, as a long time Warrior fan, I truly believe you have the ability the turn this franchise around and lead this team to the playoffs soon. I also strongly agree with your comment on how a successful franchise starts from the top, as in the front office. How will you evaluate the kind of players you will try to bring to this team? Chris Mullin: Anytime we add a player, we are looking to add as an upgrade. Something that fits in with our existing players that will play together and win together. Not just adding players for the sake of adding players. Chuck: Hey Chris, firstly, thanks for bringing back Rod Higgins...he was a big fan favorite back in the day. My question is will the Warriors actively be pursuing any free agents this offseason? Chris Mullin: That's the same as our draft information. There are certain things that the public should be privy to and there are others that are obviously not for public knowledge. Finn, Berkeley: Chris, Do you envision Mike Dunleavey playing extensive minutes at the point in the future by design rather than out of need in response to injuries. He and the team seemed to preform well when he did. thanks Chris Mullin: That's really a question for Coach Montgomery. Mike did make great improvements last season. Steve (Pasadena): Chris- What things are you planning to do with the franchise to help make players want to stay and free agents want to join the Warriors? Chris Mullin: Creating a winning environment. Giving the coaching staff everything they need to succeed and take out all excuses. The best thing to keep players and to bring players to the organization is to win. Paul Reed Greer, SC: Chris, The most recent championship with the Pistons proves that you don't need a bonafide superstar to win a championship. Can this team and its new draft pick play tough enough defense to get the job done? Chris Mullin: One of our biggest areas of improvement will be focused on defense and rebounding. Marc (Fremont): Hi Chris, I noticed a lot of 7 foot plus centers from overseas and high schoolers in the draft. Without giving away any secrets, can you tell us about who may be available at #11 and maybe tell us something about the high schoolers or international players that most of us fans don't know much about? Chris Mullin: This is a very wide-open draft. We feel there is going to be a good player for us to pick at 11. Depending on what happens above us, we feel there is going to be something good at our spot. Morgan (Oakland): Mr. Mullin So glad your calling the shots now! So are we going to resign the Custodian (Brian Cardinal) for the next couple seasons? Chris Mullin: I think Brian had a very good year. As soon as July 1 comes, not only us but other teams will be interested in Brian. He was a very good fit for us and you have to give him credit for improving as a player. Lily (Brentwood): So how do you evaluate talent? Do you any of the new statistical models? Chris Mullin: You use all the resources available to you as a decision maker. You take in all the information, digest it and come up with a decision on how you feel he is a player. I don?t know if there is an exact science. Everyone does it differently. I?ve seen a lot of Hoop games in my time, I have a pretty good feeling of what I like
Mully looks like he's been getting too much sun, maybe he needs to wear a hat. As far as the information, it seems like he was pretty quiet about most everything. I think it might have been better to hold an interview after the draft day and answer fan questions about the picks, when there's a better grasp of what the future holds.

I hope they put a lot of effort into resigning Cardinal without getting carried away of coarse.
^That's exactily how I felt after reading that transcript. He didn't say ANYTHING that wasn't already common knowledge.
Well nevertheless, its FYI. For those that haven't been keeping up with things Mullin has already spoken to the press about. On the radio he said the same thing and that's smart. You don't want to tip the other guy about what move you're going to do unless you're in agreement to coordinate.
