I remember when RJ first came into the league how he had a fantastic rookie season as part of that great bench. I thought to myself he would be an all-star someday if he could work on his shooting, ball handling and decision making.

RJ has been in the league 7 years now and some of the things that he needed to work on his rookie season still aren't that great now. His shooting has improved but its not as if he is a consistent outside threat. His ball handling is decent but its not where it needs to be IMO.

I love RJ and he has improved a great deal enough to warrant all-star consideration IMO but he is not where I thought he would be. A lot of that has to do with his injuries (ankle, wrist).

Now this isn't to knock RJ but this is just an evalution per say.

RJ should send 1/2 his paycheck to Jason Kidd. He is a shooting gaurd that cant shoot. Fortunately for him he plays with one of the 2 PGs in the league who is good enough to create opportunities for him to score anyway. He would be playing for mid level exception if it were for kidd. He should be very thankful. He is a solid #5 guy for a team. Some scoring punch. Several weaknesses in game, but can contribute to winning as long as he is an afterthought on the team.

He is a Small Forward, not a Shooting Guard, but thanks for playing

I don't need to see what he is listed at on the sites as I watch the games. Besides, go back and look at the all-star ballot, Vince was listed as a guard

    PG-Kidd, SG-Carter, SF-Jefferson, PF-Collins, C-Moore

I don't need to justify a comment that any basketball fan should know and does. You're post was utterly ridiculous and wrong. I don't know how you want me to prove it to you, as you already brought up the listed positions which are all pointless the moment RJ steps on the court and consistently plays the 3. Watch a Nets game and you will see that you are wrong and I am right. End of discussion.

What you are attempting to justify is as justifiable as blustering that 2+2=5.

I see RJ as a small forward, and Vince as a shooting guard.

Jefferson usually guards the better offensive player, of the 2 or 3 on the other team.

My point exactly....the Nets approach is to use an ambigious positional lineup that has him playing some 2 and some 3....half the websites ive gone too have listed him as a guard and half as a forward....if he went to any of the other teams in the league, they would start him in either the 2 or the 3, based on who else they had....in Denver hes a 2(assuming Iverson starts at the 1)....In Orlando hes a 2....in LA, hes a 3....in Cleveland hes a 3....its kind of a dumb technicality to call someone on when we are all striving to build a community of open discussion

If you had to define a position for Jefferson it would be SF. Regardless of the system or what each individual website states, Richard Jefferson is a SF in basketball terms.
