Re: "A team to love": The Portland Trail Blazers

Read that earlier. I'm a Rockets and Lakers fan, but for every other game around the NBA I like to watch and root for the younger teams, the fast-paced fun to watch teams. In the past, GSW, Atlanta Hawks, Philadelphia 76ers, and Portland.

I plan to do the same this year, I'll be quietly rooting for you guys unless you play my Lakers :D

Btw, I wish you guys a great season this year. I'm writing a Staff Predictions article, and I'm debating on anywhere between 6-8 for you guys, maybe even 5th. You guys make it hard! (Not sexually)

build em up to tear them down... I can see why some fans enjoy reading some nice things national sports gossip category about the Blazers but I don't expect it to last. They'll ride the fresh faces storyline for this year and maybe next but ultimately Portland is too small to make the networks the dollars they want so they will turn on the club again. Count on it.

Thats what I think anyways and probably why I don't care too much for sunshine being blown up my butt articles like this aimed at selling bandwagon fans the flavor of the week.

Great article.. thanks for the link.
Adande also posted a 2001 SI article in his story, which was another great read to see how far this team has come since those Jail Blazer days... Man, it really was bad, and I don't think you'd ever hear any of our guys now say some of that stuff that was said before.

    Here's that SI link: http://vault.sportsillustrated.cnn.com/vault/article/magazine/MAG1024614/1/index.htm

I just read the article. Good stuff. It's nice to finally be looked at in another light.

I had forgotten about Gary Trent. JA also forgot about Dontonio Wingfield. Maybe he was worth forgetting.

I couldn't agree more. I went back and read that SI article from 2001, and it brought back so many awful memories. I can't believe we put up with all the crap we did from the Wallace-Wells-Rider gang. Unbelievable. Portland deserves better, and now we have a team we can be proud of.
