Sure there's still a game 5 and it's not really impossible to comeback from a 3-1 deficit. But with the way the Mavs are looking, it's pretty much over. Dirk is practically all alone on the floor with his 28 ppg. Terry has shown flashes of brilliance. Josh Howard is a huge disappointment shooting 26% from the field and Jason Kidd has been a no-show. And the funny thing is that Avery is still in control. Going past stats, win-loss records or anything in the books, I have this scary feeling that Avery would rather see the Mavs lose than see them succeed with Kidd at the helm. From the get go, I really never believed that Avery wanted Kidd. Cuban did, not Avery. He knew that he would need to loosen his grip with Kidd on board. Avery is all about control. Clearly he hasn't loosened his grip. And I have a feeling that Cuban is not happy with Avery anymore. As we all know, Cuban gave up a lot to get the fuure Hall of Fame point guard. I just don't see Cuban or any owner for that matter to choose his over controlling coach over a player that he gambled on for a big price. But Cuban won't be holding a press conference either to say that he will fire Avery. It's not his style. He will deny that until the time he finds a suitable replacement. I don't see Avery back next season. And that's a good thing.

Anything can still happen, but it doesn't look good for the Mavs. Howard has been horrific. He's statements regarding his marijuana use has not helped either. Again, what's the use of getting Kidd if your not gonna allow him to play his game. I just don't get it. When he runs the offense, he becomes more agressive, everyone else benefits from it and bottomline, they win. Why does Avery go away from that? Maybe there's something to that "Avery doesn't want the Mavs to win under Kidd" theory. The window that Cuban created is now only a season big. And guess what, he will want to maximize Kidd for every cent he paid and get rid of Avery. He won't be sending away his multi-million dollar investment to satisfy a control freak coach. One more season for the Mavs and one more season for Jason Kidd.
