<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Karl Malone promised that if the Lakers won the NBA championship, someone would have to drag him off the court. Now, he would be lucky to be on the court at all for that moment.

Lakers team physician Dr. Steve Lombardo examined Malone after the game, and Malone is officially listed as day-to-day. Game 3 is Thursday at The Palace at Auburn Hills. Malone said he didn't know if he would play. An injury of this nature usually requires a four-to-six week recovery period, but the expectation is that Malone will play. No MRI has been scheduled.

"I don't get these opportunities very often, and I don't know if I'll get one again," Malone said 45 minutes after the game, as he sat at his locker still wearing his uniform. "I'll be fine."</div>

I have a lot of respect for Karl. He is a fighter, I don't know anyone else who injures himself and comes back into the game 2 minutes later. Big Ups Karl.

This could be huge. If Malone plays at less than 100%, he could get abused by Sheed in the post. Without Malone, the Lakers lose a key rebounder.

btw, Isiah Thomas severely sprained his ankle in 88 during a Finals game. He came back to score a record 25 points in 1 quarter. that was gutsy. nothing to take away from Malone's toughness, of course.

I know about that game iamme. I just didn't say anything about it because I said 2 minutes after, And Isiah came back long after 2 minutes.

Anyways Malone needs to be 100% or he is a liability IMO.

I think I've been saying this a lot here about this topic lately, but, this is not good for the Lakers. With Malone injured, the Lakers lose a player they need. Because, even though he may not score a lot anymore, he is still valuable to the team. Their record with him and without him shows it. They are a lot better when he is at least somewhat healthy and on the court. This injury could prove costly.

I agree with you about how the Lakers need Malone. But I think when you as a poster here on justbball make statemenst as, "Their record with him and without him shows it", you should show proof. One example of proof that you could possibly use would be a posting of the Lakers records with and without Karl included in your post. Those little tid bits will make your argument of your opinion alot more credible.

As I agreed with Moo2k4 I think Malone is very valuable to the Lakers. And i also think Karl is an irreplaceable piece of the Fab Four that the lakers need if they plan on beating the Pistons.

I believe that if Malone is not able to play in the next game @ the Palace of Auburn Hills against the Pistons. Then i truley believe the Lakers will be devasted and triumphed over by all the matchup problems that the Pistons big man will create. alla Rasheed wallace being gaurded by Luke Walton............................................. right.

^Why would exact details be necessary? EVERYONE knows how much better LA played in the regular season with Malone in the lineup.
