Giants have been struggling recently. We need another hitter, we can't win on the road because no one on this team can hit.

Yea I went to two of the braves-giants games the last two days. Bad offense by the giants the entire two days, with great defense by the Braves especially on tuesday night where like 3 defensive plays made the top 10. Matt Downs is definitely not the answer at 2B, Giants seem to have a lot of good positional players just not great.

One of the games I was right behind Fred Lewis in the first row of the outfield, and wiki him on my phone. His middle name is Deshaun and he killed 3 people when he flipped his truck one night. He didnt seem to like me calling him deshaun (I even made a makeshift sign with two pieces of paper with Deshaun on it so he would hopefully give me the ball), and when he caught the 3rd out right near me, he kept the ball. I miss the days of Mark Kotsay in CF, because he would throw 3-4 balls a game in the stands.

Hah yeah I vaguely remember the truck story. Braves have been owning us but it looks like we could get this last game. Our offense has sucked balls since the all-star break. Granted Rowand got injured and Renteria is gone (I know his numbers suck but hes money in situational at bats). They're not great hitters but since our offense sucks to begin with it really hurts to take out your leadoff hitter hitting 290 and your starting SS. Then you replace those guys with guys hitting like .200 with average defense at best. Not to mention Lincecum hasn't been himself the last two starts.

Braves look real good though. They have an insane number of guys hitting around .300 and their defense has really impressed me (before the 8th inning of this game where they made a shitload of errors).

Rumor is the Indians are having a fire sale and have made Victor Martinez & Cliff Lee available. I'd love to see the Giants acquire Martinez.

Can he play anywhere else besides C? Would you then flip Molina for something back too? Molina is a FA after this year so would anyone give us anything? I guess he could be included in the trade. Also keep in mind Posey is on the fast track to the majors and very well may be up by next season- does Victor Martinez have a real big contract? We also drafted a C in the second round of the draft this year I think.

The rumors I've been hearing is Freddy Sanchez for Johnathan Sanchez, but the G's are worried about Randy Johnson so they might not give up Sanchez.

I'm pretty sure he's played some spot games at 1B. I'd prefer to keep Molina because he's familiar with the pitching staff and it's always better to platoon catchers.

The rotation I had in mind would be...

    C - Martinez / 1B - Ishikawa
    C - Molina / 1B - Martinez

The Giants took a look at a pair of Nats this weekend in Josh Willingham and Nick Johnson, according to Jon Heyman. Not a biggy -- the Giants are scouting numerous hitters -- but these are two of the better ones.
Last week we noted that, according to PhillyBaseballNews.com, the Phillies have showed interest in Willingham.

As much as we need hitting, there's no way I want Martinez if we're planning on playing him at C. You just don't get rid of your catcher in the middle of the season when pitching is the strength of the team. Martinez would be a marginal improvement at the plate (ok, maybe a little better than marginal) but doesn't call a great game and can't throw anyone out.
