Vice president Chris Mullin and special assistant Mitch Richmond had a "good meeting" with free-agent forward James Posey in Las Vegas on Friday, according to Mark Bartelstein, Posey's agent. Bartelstein said the Warriors were among several teams, including Dallas and Washington, to express interest in his client and that talks were ongoing. San Francisco Chronicle Bartelstein, who represents Posey, said Golden State, New Jersey, Charlotte, Cleveland and "a couple other teams" are interested. He said there's still a chance one of those teams could work out a sign-and-trade deal with the Heat. South Florida Sun-Sentinel I don't know that much about Posey and the talk of a sign and trade for MP for him kind of scares me that we will be committing too much money to a guy that at least numbers wise is not really much of an improvement over MP or barnes. What are your guys thoughts on Posey? Could Ainge and Mullin have been talking about Warriors guard Sarunas Jasikevicius? Almost as soon as Jasikevicius arrived in a mid-January trade with Al Harrington, Stephen Jackson, and Josh Powell, the Warriors have been hoping to find a new home for the Lithuanian, who starred with Maccabi Elite Tel Aviv before joining the NBA. Jasikevicius was coveted by none other than Larry Bird, which could peak the interest of Ainge as he looks for a veteran point guard. Boston Globe I was trying to figure out what we could get for Roonie from boston.... I dont see it or at least how salaries match up. Telefair and ? scalabrine and? tony allen? draft pick? nothing really makes sense with boston. Marco Belinelli did not face the Knicks, having departed McCarran Airport earlier Saturday to get home for workouts with the Italian national team in preparation for the European Championships in September. Belinelli said he signed his rookie deal with the Warriors -- worth a guaranteed $2.33 million over the first two seasons, with a total of $3.27 million in team options for the third and fourth seasons -- on Friday night after the Warriors beat the Seattle SuperSonics, and that he has paid off the $600,000 buyout with his former team, Climamio Bologna. Contra Costa Times Great news to have Belinelli locked up. Whooo hooo Toby Bailey keeps hitting shots. After his performance on Friday in the summer league, the Warriors are almost certain to give him a ticket to training camp. The odds become even higher if Barnes and Pietrus aren?t resigned. San Jose Mercury-News I guess i am alone in this but i think this is great news. I hope the odds of BArnes resigning become astronomical. If anything this should be driving his price down to what he is worth. about a million a year. On the other hand, I don't really want Toby Bailey either. I will even admit Barnes is better than Bail-out. Both may lap Patrick O'Bryant on the prospect list by Christmas. The 2006 lottery pick, who spent much of last season with the minor-league affiliate in Bakersfield, still looks so out of place that when a reporter wondered about the chance of O'Bryant having a greater role in 2007-08, coach Don Nelson asked if he meant in the NBA or the Development League. Sacramento Bee POB..... man, what a waste. And to think we could have had CArney, Brewer, sefalosha, rondo or balkman
Well, James Posey is an unrestricted free-agent, so there's no need to do a sign-n-trade with Pietrus. If GS wanted him, they could just sign him outright and let Pietrus walk. On a separate note, I am happy to hear that my main man Belinelli signed his rookie deal. He's going to be the golden boy in GS. What does this team need? Exciting, electric shooters to light it up from outside -- Belinelli is the perfect fit! He'll give Baron a perfect "fail-safe" target during penetration, and he'll keep his defender out of the lane to open things up. No more sagging double-teams on Baron -- if Baron drives, and Belinelli's guy tries to double Baron, Belinelli will light it up ALL NIGHT. This is going to be fun, I promise!

Yeah, POB is a friggin' conundrum, man. 7 feet. Thin and wiry strong. A rare basketball body. An insane wingspan. Well taught, with a solid repertoire of fundamentals from the college game. A shot-blocking dream. Soft fingers and a nice finesse touch around the rim. A finely crafted sky-hook which is, for all intensive purposes, completely unblockable. ABSOLUTELY NO BASKETBALL BALLS WHATSOEVER. Bust.
This guy has all the potential to turn this around... but his mindset and the way he talks about that mindset make us believe that he's not the type to do it. There's no fire, no poise or swagger on court or off court. He's made a few nice plays, but he seems to be too passive and uncaring.
I'm with CR2 on the POB comments. As for Posey, I'm not a fan. He acts without thinking, and he's not talented enough nor does he have the Bball IQ to have that flaw IMO.
This is one guy i would love to see us target in some kind of sign and trade deal if we could get the extension as part of the deal that is. REading this perhaps it is possible The NBA's free-agent signing period is almost a week old and the Hawks are not close to signing Josh Smith to a long-term contract extension, one of his agents confirmed Sunday. The Hawks have until Oct. 31 to agree to terms with Smith, and fellow fourth-year swingman Josh Childress, or table the discussion until next summer, when both players would become restricted free agents. Smith, an Atlanta native and the team's second-leading scorer, made clear his desire to stay with the franchise through whatever tumult remains in the ongoing ownership dispute. But it's unclear as to whether the Hawks have reciprocated that feeling. "With the uncertainty surrounding the organization you would think that they would want to sign a player who has made it clear to them that he wants to be here [in Atlanta] and shown that he wants to improve as a player," said Wallace Prather, one of Smith's agents. "And it's very disappointing that they're not making it a priority." With Smith entering the fourth-year option of his rookie contract, which will pay him $1.6 million, the Hawks still have several months to get a deal done. [READ]
POB has poor positioning. He is always in the wrong place. He reacts much more than he acts, which makes him look slow and gets him in bad position. He is rarely in the paint to grab offensive boards for easy buckets. I just wish he had the mindset to crash the offensive glass more often. Then at least he would be productive. I really don't know why he stands outside on the perimeter as much as he does. For a big man he is in the mid-court area way too much. He needs to hustle more from end to end to get his body in place to be effective. Also for a player who stands on the perimeter so much, his shot is horrible. I always see him shoot bricks. In the summerleague he has looked a bit like Foyle with the close buckets, by missing easy shots near the hoop. The difference between Biedrins and O'Bryant is that Biedrins knows where to be and how to fill the cracks in order to get easy buckets. POB just stands around seems to be constantly asking "What am I supposed to do now?" Also just positioning in general, POB and AB are complete opposites.
I think POB is a worse version of Michael Olowakandi. Bright, Athletic, decent Touch, Great college player, can't hang in the Pros.
The sad thing is he didn't do anything to raise his value in the summer league. I have to imagine he knows that this summer was his chance to prove himself, to prove Mullin and Nelly wrong, to seize the opportunity and stake his claim as an NBA player. Instead, he looked like a guy who already has a 7 year contract. He looked like he felt NO pressure to perform. He looked like he couldn't care less, just going through the motions as if no one was watching. Now, he's not even a valuable trade chip anymore. I MEAN THIS WAS THE 9TH OVERALL SELECTION IN THE DRAFT! I mean we just traded Jason Richardson AND our pick for the #8 pick. POB was the #9 pick. I wish POB was still just a nameless #9 pick that we could trade. Now he's just a bust, a toss in in a trade that no one will even care about.
Nelson calls him POD or something like that. The D is for D-league. Ouch. I'm thinking we can trade him this season as we'll probably have Nellie longer than POD err... POB.
