    March 27, 2012:

Portland is at #11, 1 game back of Mil and 2 games back of GSW (man I can't believe we blew that game. Stinking Felton.) Come on OKC! :devilwink:

    Nyets are a solid #4.

If we end up with the 4th and 11th picks, that would be pretty decent. I would be satisfied with it.

But I think the Bucks can overtake us. They are fighting for a playoff spot with the Knicks, being only 2.5 games back. So I think we may end up in the 10th spot.

If we can somehow tank a little harder than the Warriors for the 9th pick, that would be even better. We play GS once more next month. That may play a big factor in determining who gets the 9th pick.

We'll need some luck for the Nets not to move up. This is gonna be an exciting lottery anyway you slice it.

Yep. It's a real horse race. Blowing that game against GSW could end up costing us 9th place. This upcoming string of home games has me a bit worried. :)

the nets finishing 4th only gets us a 10% chance at the 4th pick. 4th would be spectacularly lucky for us.

The Bucks won tonight and it looks like we'll lose tonight. That would mean we will tie them for the 10th spot. We play the Bucks in Milwaukee in April. So that will have huge implications on our lottery positioning. We have to find a way to lose that one.

It does seem odd when you look at it, but it is right.

According to wikipedia the fourth worst team's odds:

    4th pick - 10%
    5th pick - 35%
    6th pick - 16%
    7th pick - 1%

so no lower than the 7th pick at least :)

Oh I wasn't saying Crow was wrong ... it just didn't seem to add up. But that's an interesting chart.

Cool chart. Even if the Nyets finish 5th they still have a 30% chance of a top 3 pick. We may get a "Stern" lesson in probability theory. :)

it makes sense when you think about it. the only way the 4th worst team can pick 4th is if 1-3 happen to be the 3 lottery winners. 4th is the most likely spot to be bumped back.

Even if they do get a top 3 this summer, I think the Nets are bad enough that we could have a legit shot at the #1 overall next summer.

They can't get D12 this summer, so it would have to be NEXT summer, so the pick would still suck. I think Deron is gone.

Without Deron, that team is going to be complete shit next season, so a potential #1 overall pick could be really nice.
