<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">The Nets soon may move to Brooklyn, but Lou Lamoriello apparently has no intention of going with them. Lamoriello, the CEO of both the Nets and the Devils for the past 2-1/2 seasons, said yesterday he doesn't intend to remain in his basketball role now that an agreement has been reached in the Nets' sale. Lamoriello's departure from the Nets has been speculated for nearly a year, as rumors circulated last spring about friction within the organization despite back-to-back Eastern Conference championships under Lamoriello's watch. Lamoriello said yesterday there are a lot of reasons he'd like to relinquish his dual role, but the only one he cited was his desire to concentrate on running the Devils. "I want my focus to be back here, absolutely," Lamoriello said. "For many different reasons it's time for me to make that decision." Lamoriello was fielding questions from reporters about the future of the Devils, now that their Meadowlands co-tenants have struck a deal to be sold to Bruce Ratner, who plans to move the Nets to Brooklyn. Right now, Lamoriello said, the sale has no effect on the Devils, whose Meadowlands lease expires in 2007. He said the team has no intention of moving out of the area, nor to Brooklyn with the Nets. But he reiterated the Devils' desire for a new arena in Newark. That plan, which remains stalled, would seem even more remote now that only one team would be moving into the arena. But Lamoriello said "the timing is perfect" for a new arena for the Devils, who stand to be the only major pro sports team bearing the name New Jersey.</div> More here: http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/story/157436p-138260c.html
