Luke Walton's Press Conference - Q & A July 12, 2007 Mitch Kupchak Opening Statement I?d like to welcome everyone this afternoon, thanks for coming out. As you know the NBA moratorium ended yesterday, however, what we?re going to do today shouldn?t come as a surprise to anyone in this room. Luke indicated his intentions to sign back with the Lakers last week and since we are now able to sign the formal agreement we?re going to do that here today. In fact we?re going to sign the contract right here. Luke Walton Opening Statement I?d just like to start off by saying how happy I am to be back in LA. This is where I wanted to be when the whole free agency started and the fact that we could agree on a 6 year long term deal is very exciting to me. I?m looking forward to helping this team and getting back to the playoffs and eventually back to the championships and bringing some more championships back to Los Angeles where the trophies belong.

He seems like one of the very few people on this squad who actually cares about winning. Glad to have him back on board, and hopefully he'll stay healthy next season.
