ESPN.com is reporting that John Madden has decided to retire from broadcasting....I never really liked his style, but I know he appealed to a broad audience....I hope he keeps the game franchise going though....

Surprised it took him this long to retire, IMO.

    I hate Collinsworth...

I almost feel like Cris could turn into a NFL type Billy Packer. I know weird connection but It is a weird feeling. But I never hated Billy, and will probably never hate Cris.

The guy hated to fly so he rode in a bus turned mobile home to all the games everywhere in the country.

He was a great coach, too.

No doubt the most popular broadcaster in NFL history. He'll be missed.

I wonder if EA Sports will continue to us the Madden name on the games?

Ether way he will be remembered as one of the most famous announcers in American sports and a great coach as well.

Football without Madden. IDK how I feel with Cris with Al, but then again, there are worse alternatives.

I actually like Collinsworth. I thought he did a great job on NFLN considering he wasn't always paired with the best play by play guy.

Madden will surely be missed though. I've never had a football season without him calling games so it'll be kind of interesting without him I guess.
