Re: Madison doesn't see a return http://www.palmbeachpost.com/dolphins/cont...dison_1230.htmlMadison doesn't see a returnBy Jeff Darlington, Greg A. BedardPalm Beach Post Staff WritersFriday, December 30, 2005After nine seasons and four Pro Bowls, cornerback Sam Madison said Thursday he expects Sunday's game to be his last with the Dolphins."We have a lot of young corners that are ready to play," Madison said. "They've prepared well. They're ready. I've done some great things over the last nine years here, and it's part of the business. It just happens sometimes."Madison, 31, doesn't plan to retire, but he doesn't expect to be part of coach Nick Saban's blueprint for the future. Madison has struggled at times in Saban's defensive system and he is scheduled to make $3.5 million in a contract that runs through the 2007 season.Madison, who was named a Pro Bowl alternate last week, also said he would not take a pay cut to stay with the Dolphins."I'm an alternate to the Pro Bowl, so why should I take a pay cut... and I'm 31?" he said. "The last time I took a pay cut it was, 'We need to sign this player, this player and this player.' And out of all the guys that they wanted to take pay cuts, I'm the only one that took a pay cut. "Everyone else got paid more and then we still didn't use the money for what we needed it for (to keep cornerback Patrick Surtain)."Saban, who had met with reporters before Madison talked, was not available for comment. Earlier, he was asked about Madison's adjustment to the new defense."I don't know, you should ask Sam that," Saban said. "I can't answer that. I don't think that we are doing anything differently than anybody else does, though."Madison has looked more comfortable in recent weeks. His first interception in more than two years sparked a comeback win over Buffalo and he picked off another pass last week against the Titans. He also has tackled better, something that's required in Saban's scheme.Still, when asked if he expects to be back, Madison didn't hesitate ? "No.''"It's not going to be sad," said Madison, a second-round pick out of Louisville in the 1997 draft. "I think the last nine years, if I can put both of my hands up and count the number of big plays that I've given up and there's a big difference in the number of plays that I've made... it's good."No matter where he ends up, Madison said he'll remain faithful to the Dolphins."The organization has been very good to me,'' he said. "We've made a lot of plays and they're going to continue to make more plays. It's fine. This is where I live. I'm a Dolphins fan for life. "I'm going to keep my season tickets and all that stuff because one day I'm going to be sitting in the stands watching Travis (Daniels) and all those other guys play."Brown is back: Running back Ronnie Brown, after being limited during Wednesday's practice, went full speed Thursday. "Ronnie Brown is still day-to-day," Saban said. "He was better today than he was yesterday."Sam Madison would be a great guy to pick up in the off-season, he would really help us pass defense.
Re: Madison doesn't see a return Aww.....Im gonna miss him being torched by the Jets twice every season.
Re: Madison doesn't see a return Good. Out with the old and overrated, in with the new, young and talented. Well Madison will be cut or traded, preferably traded.
Re: Madison doesn't see a return I think Madison is a very good corner. The Dolphins have lost a lot of talent on the defensive side of the ball the last couple of seasons (Patrick Surtain, Knight, and now Sam Madison). Specially in their secondary.
