<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Sixth Man Madsen Mark Madsen. Let's face it. There are two reasons why lots of neutrals would love to see the Minnesota Timberwolves go on a playoff run. Besides the fact you can't help but root for the end of Kevin Garnett's suffering, you can also admit, deep down, that you're curious to see what kind of dance Madsen will bust out if the Wolves finally reach Round 2. Or beyond. Leaving the Lakers, incidentally, hasn't hurt Madsen's status as a man of the people. He's proving just as well-liked in the Twin Cities, where Madsen combines with Gary Trent, Fred "The Mayor" Hoiberg and recent signee Oliver Miller to give the Wolves maybe the best bench they've ever had. It's certainly the most energetic bench, and the contributions Madsen and Co. (don't forget stopper Trenton Hassell, either) have helped Garnett, Sam Cassell and Latrell Sprewell survive the long-term injury absences of Wally Szczerbiak, Troy Hudson and Michael Olowokandi.</div> Full Story Moving from LA to Minnesota did not hurt the Mark Madsen fan base.
His fan base in LA is strong but in Minnesota it's gonna suck after he missed that layup against the uhhhh.....hum, Grizzlies.
Not true he popularity can't be decided after one shot. I never really payed attention to him until he came to Minn. now he's one of my favorite players regardless of the missed basket.
Minnesota loves him... I think the fan favorite though in Minnesota is defanitly the rookie Ndudi Ebi, the Wolves fans love to route him on when he simply touches the ball at the end of games... Garnett, Sprewell, and Cassell always cheer Madsen and Ebi at the end of games.
I never saw the shot, but everybody is allowed a few mistakes. Eventually everybody misses a shot, it is just that Madsen never had a record of having clutch shots to win the game. Any angry fans will eventually get over it and begin to embrace Madsen as a fan favorite again. Most of the other fans already do embrace him.
He is still popular. How can you not love Mad Dog? The guy hustles every play and brings excitement and energizes the team. Every team should have a player like that. And of course we always need a cheerleader on the bench.
Madsen seems to be a true "Minnesotan" Mark Madsen seems to be a true "Minnesotan". We appreciate hard-work and intensity, and he shows that all of the time. Sometimes he picks up "ticky-tack" fouls due to his intensity, but we love that about him. Madsen can spend the rest of his career here and I would be happy. His personality just shows how much he appreciates life, and we love that.
