I was looking at these two in an NBA player comparison, both are on my fantasy team. Anyway I noticed that with the exception of 3pt % they are very similar (they are even the same height and only 11 pounds separate them, haha). I thought I'd start a discussion on who you think is the better player/who you'd have on your team. Here are the stats for both players, but it would be great to hear some arguments other than just statistical ones. Have at it . I guess it really depends on how many shots they're taking, if I had to pick one or the other I'd take Maggette.
As good as Redd is, I'd take Maggette, too. He's more athletic and quicker, and I love how aggressive he is... He attacks the baskets very often and as a result gets to the line.
I'd take Maggette, if Redd was more athletic, he'd be an amazing player, but his only mediocre athleticism gives him a disadvantage against the athletic guys, and if they're willing to follow him around, they can shut him down. Maggete takes bad shots, and isn't as good a shooter, but is a better rebounder, more athletic, get's to the line a lot, and he's also a better defender due to being more athletic. They're both about the same in passing, Redd's passing is underatted though, he's a better passer than the numbers show just isn't put into the position to create that much.
If you need 3 point shots, then Redd. If you need other aspects other than 3 point shot, then Maggette.
Maggette simply because he can drive and get fouls. Correct me if im wrong but did he lead the league in free throw attemps AND free throws made
Redd, both are all star caliber players, but i prefer redd's smooth offensive style, to maggette's hard driving, slashing style. since i like both of them, its a hard choice, but redd takes my votes, since he shoots less free throws per game, and still get 20 ppg
i take maggete because the only numbers he is worse than redd is FG% and 3PT% and he isn't far off in FG% but way off in 3PT%
I would take Maggette.. Redd has the better shot, but that is about it. Maggette is more athletic, he can drive the ball, he gets to the FT line a lot. He rebounds, is quicker, and honestly, I think just better than Redd.
