Magic wants - KIETH VAN HORN 76'ers Want - Grant Hill You think this trade will work out good? I dont. I would keep horn and hill dont play much! what you guys think?
It's already been shot down. Not gonna happen. I don't see why Philly would do it. Grant may never play again, and if he does, I don't see him being an impact player. I'd just hold onto KVH because at least he's playing.

The reasons why 76ers would do this is: 1. KVH is overpaid and he has a LONG term deal. He does not fit in Philly and he is not the offensive solution for Philly. 2. IF Grant Hill gets healthy, he will be a force with AI and will make the 76ers one of the favorites to come out of the East. 3. IF Grant Hill can NEVER play again and retires, Philly gets lots of cap space to sign a LEGIT superstar. 4. IF Grant Hill cannot play this season, but returns next season, Philly has McKie & Monty Williams to play the SF spot. There are a lot 'IF's', is G Hill worth the gamble? I bet if Pat Croche were still GM he would be willing to roll the dice on G Hill.

They are paid the same, but KVH is actually playing. 2. Huge, huge if. If by chance he comes back, he'll be a shell of his former self. 3. This was one I considered, but it doesn't seem like enough. Hill says he's going to attempt at least another comeback. And if he retires due to injury, I believe the team has to pay him until 2 years after the date of the injury. So, if Hill made a comeback the start of next season (2003-2004), but failed and decided to retire, his salary comes off the books in early 2005. That's still a year and a half before KVH would, but it doesn't seem worth it to be paying him up to then, with nothing to show for it. 4. Yes, they have guys who can play the spot now, but they aren't that far from being contenders now as it is. Why throw it all away on a pipe dream that Hill will return to his superstar days with Detroit?
I wouldn't do this trade if I were Philly either, but those were some of the reasons they were considering to justify the deal.
