<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">The Orlando Magic's search for a new head coach has led someone in that organization to place a call to the 76ers about... Chris Ford. The Daily News has learned from a source with knowledge of the situation that the Magic has contacted the Sixers asking for permission to speak with Ford, currently their pro personnel scout. It is not known whether Ford has spoken with the Magic. Ford left word with the Sixers public relations department that he would not be commenting on the situation. The Magic's policy is not to comment on potential coaches. Various published reports about candidates for the job have included interim coach Chris Jent, a Sixers assistant in 2003-04; Brian Hill, a former Magic coach and now an assistant with the New Jersey Nets; Eric Musselman, an assistant with the Memphis Grizzlies and a former head coach of the Golden State Warriors; and Flip Saunders, a former coach of the Minnesota Timberwolves. Ford joined the Sixers in 2003-04 as an assistant to Randy Ayers, then became the interim coach for the final 30 games of the season after Ayers was fired. He spent the recently concluded season as their pro personnel scout and remains under contract. Ford, a one-time Villanova star from Atlantic City, coached the Boston Celtics for five seasons, from 1990-91 to 1994-95. He coached the Milwaukee Bucks for two seasons, from 1996-97 to 1997-98, and directed the Los Angeles Clippers for parts of 1998-99 and 1999-2000. He holds an overall record of 323-376, including 12-18 with the Sixers. He also holds a 12-13 playoff record.</div> Source I don't think he would make a good coach for the Magic. Steve Francis is a guy who is some what like Allen Iverson when it comes to emotions. As you know when Ford was the coach for the 76ers Iverson and him clashed. I'm not saying that Francis and him would, but it is a good possibility because Ford is a very restrictive coach.
If this is gonna happen then AI is gonna do everything to beat the Magic every time they play. Ford hates AI and vica versa,Francis hasn't whined over coaches but everything is possible. Why aren't Magic looking at former Bulls headcoach Cartwright?
Right now it looks like Mussellman is our #1 guy, then Brian Hill and PJ Carlisimo. Honestly I would rather have Jent then Ford. Jent has chemistry with the team and everyone likes him.
I would like Flip as our #1 guy, then Muss, then Brian, the Jent get the most experienced and big name coach to be a must. Muss i would be happy with if we didnt get Flip and everyone else i would choose Jent over I hate P.J. he played Dwight poorly in the Rookie/Sophmore game maybe Spree choked him for a reason. Skiles needs to be talked to and Devos should be looking for a Playoff coach and Fans in the seat as Skiles could get us that.
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Why aren't Magic looking at former Bulls headcoach Cartwright?</div> He is a decent coach, however he runs the triangle offense. Do the Magic want to do this? He also seems to be really lenient on the players in practice. A lot of our players were out of shape the beginning of last year.
