Two seasons ago, the Magic promoted a hockey guy (John Weisbrod) to run the club. When Weisbrod exited, they split the GM job this season between Weisbrod's right-hand men, Otis Smith and Dave Twardzik, who were handed titles of assistant general managers. "Could it be one of those guys [Smith or Twardzik]? Absolutely." Vander Weide said he hopes to have a GM in place before the NBA draft "by May 1 or May 15." However it plays out for Smith and Twardzik, Vander Weide said, "My intention is not to lose either guy. "I'm happy with what they've done. There was a lot of debate about having two assistant GMs. We took a few hits on that. I noticed nobody throws arrows at baseball teams who have been doing it."</div> Source Brian Hill Endorses Otis Smith For GM Spot <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Orlando Sentinel - Co-GM Otis Smith has received the endorsement of head coach Brian Hill to take over sole ownership of the Magic's general manager position, the Orlando Sentinel is reporting. "I think we have as great a working relationship regardless of the titles. I couldn't ask for a better situation as a coach."</div> Source
