Orlando Magic general manager Otis Smith flew to Philadelphia over the weekend to meet with Steve Mountain, agent for point guard Jameer Nelson, to spark negotiations on a possible contract extension. Smith returned without a deal or the prospect of one anytime soon.If an extension isn't signed by Oct. 31, Nelson will play next season as a restricted free agent.
