I hope he beats mobley out for the starting spot.

    Wow.

    Great stuff going on here.
More deph in backourt, and another running player.
It'll be interesting to see everyone work for their minutes...

    Don't hold your breath.

As far as the signing, I can't see a real downside to this as long as he is willing to come off the bench without causing problems in the locker room a la Drew Gooden. He's got the athleticism that we need at the 2/3 position and I look forward to seeing him thrive in the new Magic offensive system.

If given the minutes to prove himself, he could really be something special... especially if he picks it up on the defensive end. Good signing by the Magic.

He's a good choice for a backup swingman, and with 5 years of experience in the league, Stevenson is still only 23. However, Mobley right now is still the incumbent to start, simply because he is more experienced and has a deeper pedigree, but I expect Stevenson to be a regular starter before he turns 25.

Right now I'd rather have Deshawn Stevenson at the back up slot, because he hasnt proven too much to me. He has developed into a decent player though, he could've been better if he went to college.

The re-signing of Stevenson makes me even more question the signing (contract) of Hedo Turkoglu. Now he'll have to split time with Mobley, Hill, Turkoglu and Garrity, even though the last are primarily 3's.

Hill is questionable to play (correct me if i'm wrong). Questionable in the sense that he may not be healed or whatever in time or well enough. Garrity isn't going to play as much as turkoglu anyways, so basically he'll back up mobley at the 2. That's all.

I don't care what some people say, Stevenson is a 2 guard, simple as that. Heck, they had him playing the point for a couple games this year. In today's NBA, the fact is that Stevenson is better sized for the 2 guard slot and really, we could use some depth there IMO. Point is, this guy can legitimately play three positions on any given night, so coming off the bench, this guy can give the Magic a lot of energy.

Seems like we'll be difficult to match up against. Now we have several players with a true ability to play several positions. Watching Stevenson though does in fact prove that he is pretty much a pure 2 guard, and will no doubt be a strong part of the unit coming off of the bench. (Something that the Magic seriously lacked last year)

I was wondering when we were going to re-sighn this kid. Great decision by the Magic IMO. Stevenson can play either the 2 or 3 spot which will add on to the list of Magic players who can play more than one position, making us somewhat difficult to match up with like Xover said. Deshawn will more than likely play the two and hopefully he'll get the minutes to show his potential he has in him somewhere. Again great decision by John W and The Magic.

lol Funny thing how a few people were talking bad about him a few days ago...I knew we had to re-sign him he is a great player just not tall enough but not a big issue if he was bigger he would've been closer to what he was first being compared to, a T-Mac kinda player.

Great move! Hill although I hope stays heathy I am realistic and no that he may very well get injured. Having stevenson on the team and a young guy who has a contract with the team for a while will be much better than having hill who may opt out and take less money or opt out and leave the team if he has a healthy year.

Stevenson will be our version of what wally is for the wolves a spark plug of the bench that gives the team some added fire power to go against other teams and if injuries happen being able to step into that role. I hope this doesnt happen, but he is also a valuable trade peace if hill stays healthy and resigns.
