<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">The stories were on opposite ends of Saturday's paper, giving us a startling contrast in compassionate business sense. Orange County has no room in its convention center to welcome any displaced evacuees battered by Hurricane Katrina, but officials will gladly accept any convention bookings lost in the shambles of a city we used to know as New Orleans. Flip over from Local and State to Sports, where Mike Bianchi's notes column included a poignant item about how Joel Glass, the Orlando Magic's publicist, gave the shirt off his back to a victim who admired it last week. Glass was part of a convoy of employees and players from the organization who flew on the team's private plane to Baton Rogue to help those who are in dire straits. Instead of taking the private plane on a scheduled company retreat, they loaded the plane with 6,000 pounds of emergency supplies and flew them to Louisiana. Grant Hill and Coach Brian Hill were among those who made the road trip. Perhaps in this jaded world you can dismiss the Magic's actions as symbolic and an expected gesture of goodwill from a bunch of folks who make a bunch of money. I certainly don't. Through the years, this organization has made buffoonery an art form with horrific personnel decisions. But despite what issues they have in their head thinking clearly, the Magic folks have always had their heart in the right place. The plane trip to Louisiana only strengthens that argument.</div> Source At least we did something right! Just kidding guys... I think it is great what we are doing. We have made a huge impact and maybe helped the most out of all professional sports teams. I am proud to be a Magic fan and it's great we have done so much for those people.
