<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Point guard Travis Diener, Orlando's second-round draft pick from Marquette, signed a two-year contract with the Magic on Tuesday.

Diener, 6 feet 1 and 175 pounds, gives the Magic five guards under contract for training camp in October, joining returnees Steve Francis, DeShawn Stevenson and Jameer Nelson, along with Keyon Dooling, a free agent who signed earlier this month.

Francis started most of last season at point guard, but he is expected to play more this season at shooting guard, leaving Nelson, Dooling and Diener to compete for court time when he makes the switch.

Diener, who was considered an overachiever at Marquette, might be the best passer of the guards and is expected to help the Magic with their offensive ball movement. His lack of size and strength, though, hurt him in the draft, dropping him to the 38th overall pick.

"He [Diener] is going to fit very well with our current group,'' said Otis Smith, Magic assistant general manager. "He's a tough kid who sees the floor well. He has good skills, and he can knock down the open shot.''</div>

Jameer starts. I think Diener will be a very crafty veteran one day.

Jameer will be a very good PG and I think he's better suited for a starting role and I think Diener will be a suffecient starter but an incredible backup sort of like Jon Barry or Travis Best. I'm not on target with the comparisons but I hope you got the meaning of what I was trying to say. Dooling will be the 2nd string PG/SG over both Stevenson and Diener and I think the starters will be Frachise at SG and Jameer at PG

Finally Deiner is a breath of fresh air for this team that needed someone like him to come in and play like a Passing Point Guard.

I like the Nelson starting idea but Iam also leaning towards starting Dooling to see if he can do something crazy just beacuse he is starting.
