Neff says that signing with the team is the right choice for G-Mac. He'll have only two other guards ahead of him at the summer league, JJ Redick and Travis Diener. I was suprised when I found out McNamara wasn`t picked by anyone. Orlando is loaded now with point guards.
Probably just wanted another shooter, I guess. They drafted Redick, the best shooter in the draft.. We'll see where G-Mac fits in.
That's gonna be a fun summer league team. I wonder what his chances of making the roster are, provided he performs well. I like the idea bringing in these college guys that were leaders and played for their college for 4 years.
Yeah, Im with Swish, I see G-Mac as a much better player than Diener even though he's a shoot first PG. G-Mac should impress in summer league and I can't wait to see what JJ does.
diener is good.. he just never played...everytime he got in the game he was productive and passed the ball very well and had a low amount of turnovers...the only thing he is weak at is height and getting a play started fast enough for it to work....G-Mac is an amazing player but to tell u the truth diener or not..i think this is just a project and the magic are just examining there options...its a steal for sure though...one more thing...did anyone grab allen ray???
So he like has a contract now? or is going to play for you guys. i havent even heard of a 2nd round pick being signed yet.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Fastforward7:</div><div class="quote_post">wat happened to Travis' brother, i think his name was Drake</div> I think you are thinking of his cousin, Drake Diener. He was a guard at the college level (forget which school) until he got an illness called Crohn's Disease. The illness affects your stomach and intestines and causes extreme abdominal pain/cramping and can flare up at any time. He had a serious flare up and it caused him to miss the majority of last season. I think he is on medicine now so he might be able to return but I doubt he will be the same because the disease often makes you shed pounds (because a lot of the nutrients in your body go towards fighting the disease) and could make you physically weaker. It's a shame because the kid had NBA potential and to see it all go to waste on something he can't control is sad. The reason I know so much about this is because I actually have it as well. I was diagnosed with it in seventh grade and it has changed my weight and stunted my growth (just a little bit). My case isn't to serious and I haven't had a flare up for over a year because the medicine I've been on has been taking care of the situation. Cases can range from mild (mine) to extreme (probably Diener's if he missed a whole season). Other people with disease are David Garrard (quarterback for the Jacksonvillle Jaguars), Shayne Corson (NHL), and John F. Kennedy.

We are set at the guard position my best guess is we are holding on to players to either trade or to have as an injury policy against Nelson and Arroyo. We really needed some 3pt shooters and now we def have them. I cant wait to see how they play in summer league.
Well, as we speak Gerry McNamara is hot stuff on the market. I thought for sure that he would have been picked in the 40's but apparently not. Good shot, and a good attitude, I see him taking Travis' spot easily.
GMac's competitive attitude and willingness to play hard will get him into the rotation on some team in the league for sure.
At first I was wondeirng.....why? I mean yeah he's good and i loved watching him in those close games at Syracuse. But REMEMBER guys. Travis Diener is a FA, so I would assume this will be a battle between Diener and G-Mac for the uhhh 4th string PG. haha To bad though, Diener never really got a real shot to show his stuff. He's a beast man.
G-Mac doesn't necessarily haveto be a PG, he was the second best shooter in college basketball last year and for the last 4 years besides Redick, and he is far more clutch. If we ever need multiple shooters on the floor G-Mac would certainly be a good option. Most clutch shooter I've seen in a while, IMO.

I wish we would have signed Gansey instead. I do like Gmac though, but I don't think he will be anything for the Magic.
