<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">ORLANDO - Their odds of moving up in Tuesday's NBA Draft are still slim, but the Orlando Magic are working feverishly to jump from No. 11 into the top four so they can pick point guard Deron Williams. The Magic got Williams, a consensus top-five pick from Illinois, to come to Orlando for a workout Saturday, showing how hard they are working to pull off a trade. Orlando could move up in a variety of ways. "If you're going to move up, you're going to have to give up something," Magic player personnel director Dave Twardzik said. "Our pick is attractive, but you are going to have to throw in a future pick, cash or a player on your roster. It can be done, but it's difficult." The Magic were wowed by Williams, who could go as high as third. At 6-foot-3, 203 pounds, Williams has the size and strength coaches love in point guards. After shedding 10 pounds and trimming his body fat to 7 percent, Williams has been quicker and more athletic than scouts assumed while watching him at Illinois. Some now compare him to a younger version of seven-time all-star Jason Kidd because of his playmaking skills. "He's a throwback, an old-school type of player," Twardzik said. "He has a very good basketball IQ. Really, all three of the top point guards (Chris Paul and Raymond Felton are the others) are true point guards."</div> Source
Whoa, if I were a Magic fan I'd be freaking out about the possibility of Deron growing up with Dwight Howard. That'd be an awesome combo. I think they could get this done, and I'll propose a trade that I think could work (no source, it's just a possibility): Francis and #11 for #4 and Claxton. It'd be a simple deal to make, though it would give Orlando 3 PG's (Nelson, Claxton, and Williams) but I think they could easily rotate them, giving them time at both guard spots. That'd be one heck of a young 1-2 punch, Howard and Williams. I'm hoping they can pull a trade just cuz I'd love to see those two play together

There have been rumors that the Magic will be giving a player (Nelson, Hedo or Stevenson) our #11 pick and both of our second round picks just for that #4 pick. I like Williams and the thought of him next to Dwight would be great but I just don't want to give way to much.
One huge problem I have with the Orlando Magic franchise is they do not give enough time for young talent to develope. They make these moves draft young players, trade for young players, and a season or two later there back were they started. Happened with the Gooden trade, with players like Miller who played a couple seasons with the team, and was traded (for Gooden by the way), happened with Harpring, etc. I do not see how they expect to build a good franchise when they give up and start rebuilding every season. They got Mobley and Francis everything was going well. Then just because they would have to spend money to keep Mobley this off season they trade him. Then there was Bogans was performing well then we got Francis, and Nelson, so we traded him. It seems like this team will never really stick with a plan for more than three seasons. Even when Tracy was here they never kept his surrounding cast around, and make minor improvements every off season. They basically went into every off season and had a roster overhaul. They need to have a little faith.
I'm not sure about how will this benefits the team. The organization just like to do strange trading/movement and they need to find out exactly what the team is lookin for, what the team's goal etc... *I'm still mad of mobley's trade. I am not sure whether given up stevenson and a pick will get williams to us...IMO given up hedo and nelson is a NO!!! Hedo is a decent shooter, and Nelson was playing well with D12 and the team...why want to seperate all the good combinations? The organization should sit down, and look back at what they've done. They need to find out what the team really wants to become, in the next few years, and build around a couple of players. my $0.02 thoughts.

They need to give the players some time to build chemistry and give them time to improve. We always seem to ship out guys before they are done adjusting and that is what always hurts us.
