The Los Angeles Lakers legend said in an interview yesterday that he'd be interested in getting involved in a casino development here if the right deal came along. That might help alleviate his frustration over a decade of efforts to develop major projects here with only minimal results.

"I would definitely look at entertainment, a casino in Boston, and putting people to work," he said. "A lot of times casinos go into cities and there isn't any minority participation," Johnson said. -- Boston Globe

Well Massachusetts is getting its first three casino's (hopefully one in Revere, property will skyrocket!) so it'll be quite cool if Magic could get something going here in Mass. Maybe Bird should get one too and then they can battle it out just like old times?

It looks like Palmer, Middleborough, and Suffolk Downs [or Rever] will be getting casions if Patrick's proposal is approved by the Legislature. Anything that lowers property taxes is cool. I'm not one that believes gambling really negatively affects the social well-being of society, so I view casinos as something that brings more attraction to the state and augments the economy. I mean, the only real negative, to me, is the increased traffic on 90 west when I go to the Berkshires [Palmer].
