Some people just joke around and make fun of others. The one who is being made fun of either laughs along or gets pissed. In my psychology class, my teacher actually had a huge discussion with myself and my peers about this touchy subject. What do you guys think:Is making fun of someone really just "boys being boys" (or girls just doing it for fun)orIs making fun of someone childish and should not be done? Here are two reasons to help you guys go either way (not like a bisexual, though):Making fun of someone is good natured fun:1) Friends do it publically without shying away and sometimes, new friends are made.2) Shows that people aren't secure about themselves fully and can handle a joke or two.Making fun of someone is bad:1) Some kids take it too far... Columbine, even!2) Other people join in and "bag" on one person... That can hurt someone emotionally... Which is a bad thing... Which means it's not a good thing...So, discuss, folks. Good or bad? Do you do it? Why do you do it?
well it is obviously bad once it becomes to frequent. At my school, we would make fun of one of our best friends so much. It was ridiculous. We had over 40 nicknames for him. It just kinda stopped though because either we just got tired of making fun of him, or because he stopped showing reactions. Now that I look back on it, nothing good came out of my friends and I doggin my other friend. So its obviously not a good thing.
Yeah, I have to lean toward bad, too. You see, some people get overly sensitive and become violent. Before that happens, why not just stop making fun of the person?Anyway, my teacher also gave examples, too. She said that Larry Bird and MJ were known on the court for trying to get their opponent out of the game by making fun of them. Do you guys think that making fun of someone should be acceptable in sports?
I think it depends. if its in a good nature and all parties take it in good nature than its ok. but if its constant and verging on bullying or harasssing than something needs to be done. remember kids today are retarded and think an AK47 is the solution to bullying.
Obviously when you know someone and both can take jokes. It's all in good natured fun but making fun of someone you don't know or harrass for no reason. Is where the line should be drawn. In most cases it's a situation where it does more harm then good. Even though I have done it in the past and have had it done upon me. So I guess that's make take on it.

I actually stopped hanging out with them because of it.
used to it with friends in a joking way..not a bullying way where the kid is nearly crying but where they can laugh about itbut now after watching what measures kids will go to for "revenge" (columbine etc etc) I stoppedso I say bad because some kids just cant take a joke

Besides, people shouldn't care too much about what others think negatively regarding themself.
Well, I dont think any good come soutve it, but its not always bad. Me and my friends make fun of each other all the time, but its just something we do to converse, get something to talk about. But I think you should only do it to your friends, cause when you make fun of somebody you dont consider a "friend" they take it personal. And making fun of can just be a cruel way for some kids to say, "I dont like you". Its very bad and wrong when its like that. But if a friend has a big pimple or something and you make a little joke about it, its all in fun and chances are that something you do or say will make your friends make fun of you. So it can be harmful and it can be just fun and games. BTW, when I say harmful, I mean it literly, there was a kid who I went to school with a couple years ago who made fun of another kid. He got the crap beat outve him, apprently, the kid who he was making fun of could fight!!
That reminds me of highschool, me and my buddies used to kick the sh*t out of the freshmen and embarrass them. It was funny, I guess these days some kids are pussies. People keep making a big deal about this sort of thing. If a bully picks on you, crack his head open with a baseball bat, he won't start sh*t again.
Probably back in your day...you didnt have picked on kids coming and shooting up schools....different days, and where Im from, messing with a certain person can get you killed in oyur neighborhood.
Same here, except messin with me COULD result in them getting killed in my school. mainly because of the people I know, not me particularly.
I make fun of everyone.. literally, everyone. It's just because the way I am. I don't say like, oh god you're a faggot, I just rag on people for random sh*t. No one gets pissed, they laugh too. It's a good time.

Depends on who you are making of fun of. If you with you friends just joking around. BUt if you purposely offend someone and you meanit then its bad
It's good fun to joke around and take jabs at people, but once it starts happening too much, and it gets out of hand, then it is a bad thing, and it could hurt peoples feelings.I can take jokes to a certain limit, but then I get tired of them, and I want them to stop.
If you call someone a friend a fag and they laugh, you should be instantly able to see if they really find it funny or if it bugs them. From there, you know whether to continue or not. It's really about the other person, and how they recieve it
Just like everything else in life, there's a line. And for everyone on Earth that line is different. Some people have a short fuse, or can be tolerant as punching metal. It also depends how youre making fun of something, if it's a blatant attack then it's bad. But if it's a just joking around it's fine.IT ALL DEPENDS................................................................
I hate it when people make fun of me, I add someone to my list everyday and one of these I'm going to blow BANG BANG BANGHAHA AAHAHAHAHASuicidal masscres: My Anti-drug
