Karl Malone, who played with O'Neal last season with the Lakers, also could wind up in a Heat uniform, but Pfund said it might take some time before Malone, who turns 41 on Saturday, decides whether to retire.

''There's definitely interest on our part -- definitely,'' Pfund said.

I dont think malone will become a heat. Since in his press conference after opting out of the lakers he said it was a business desicion and if he played another year it would be for the lakers. Malone has always been a man of his word and always seemed to me to have a better realationship with kobe than shaq.

Horry would be a good pick up. He can hit clutch shots. He was lost in the spurs team last season, but still is very talented. He would provide good three point shooting to a team that was last in that last season there top three shooter skip at 40% left. So they need that.

Id love for Malone to come and Horry would make it even better.
Malone IMO is the top free agent left.

I think horry has lost it his last year and la and the one with SA he was terrible he is too slow for the 3 and cant rebound at the 4, so if he's not hitting shots what will he be good for? Malone is the perfect fit he will fit in with unselfish guys like wade and do some banging down low.

Malone would be a great addition, I just hope his age and/or injuries won't affect him since he would be a big part of the team.

According to a report out of the MInneapolis Star Tribune newspaper, Mchale let us know that he feel Malone will sign with the Heat.

Regarding the possibility of signing free agent Karl Malone, Timberwolves vice president Kevin McHale said he hears the veteran power forward will sign with Miami.

    Just passing the FYI. Peace

If Miami can get Horry and Malone, they're arguably the Eastern Conference favorites...O'Neal/Malone/Jones/Wade/Horry...thats a decent nucleus....

however, if Malone signs with Miami, my respect for him will dwindle even more as it is becoming even moreso apparent that he is riding O'Neal's coattails for a title...

If malone was after a title so bad he would sign with the Spurs, do you really think that Miami is more of a title contender than San antonio? Signing with the heat just shows his allegiance to Shaq.

    agreed.

Malone wasnt meant to win the championship. He shouldve retired when Stockton went. It wouldve meant something to win it all with the Jazz than to sign with the season favorite like he did last year.

Good point. But he's probably thinking he can go to a team that has a good chance at going to the finals with a team in the East, rather than gambling with one of the many good teams in the West. With the Lakers, they were the number one team no questions asked (until the pistons proved them wrong). But with Shaq gone, there's a lot of good teams in the West that will be fighting to make the finals.

If I'm a Heat fan I would rather see Horry in a Heat uniform rather than Malone. Both would be nice, but for Malone I guess the question is : Would you rather play the Pistons in the Eastern Conference Finals or the NBA Finals? The further you go, the more it hurts.

That is enough to sign one of the two. Malone is not intrested in money any more. He will go to a team if he thinks they can win a title. I still say he will stay with the lakers because malone I have always seen him as a man of his word. Then horry will be looking to rebound from two bad years by his standards. Being lost in san antonios line up and missing all tose shots in the playoffs his last year in la. I think he would be intrested in playing along side shaq again.
