<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Karl Malone, nearing the end of his 19th NBA year, experienced in affairs of delicate nature and sensitive to the vagaries of team chemistry, made a veteran move late Sunday afternoon. He walked away. Swiftly, silently and with purpose. The Lakers were bathing in frustration and dancing on the edges of controversy after being routed by the Sacramento Kings. Kobe Bryant had apparently lost his will to shoot, the Lakers had lost their shot at the division title and uncomfortable questions littered the air in the visitors locker room at Arco Arena. In six or so months as a Laker, Malone has nearly always been the one to brave the cameras and notepads, regardless of circumstance whether a horrifying loss or a toxic war of words between teammates. But, following the lead of coach Phil Jackson who gave a brief statement, but took no questions Malone boarded the team bus without comment Sunday. He left the team practice facility late enough Monday to avoid the media crush again, but for those who stuck around, he offered a plainspoken explanation. "When I don't have nothing positive to say, I don't say nothing,' he said, then comically objected when asked about Sunday's loss. "We're not talking about yesterday, don't take me back to yesterday.'</div> http://www.dailynews.com/Stories/0,1413,20...2079721,00.html
Read this story earlier, got the link off the NBA.com website. Nothing really big though, so I don't really know what to say about it.. But if Malone is quiet that probably isn't a good sign, usually he's the most up and happy guy who loves to talk to reporters.

Kobe played stupid and we've all been over this a billion times, but he could have played his best game ever and we probably still would have lost. No one else could create or make shots, and Shaq was in foul trouble thought the game as usual. Lack of effort as a team.

It's just that I have a 48 hour hangover over the disturbing success over our superstar. Yes, you're right. Lack of effort as a team. Kobe will turn this disturbance into good team basketball for the 2004 playoffs. And that's what I should be looking out for.
