ESPN Insider reported (December 10th) that Isiah Thomas contacted Malone's agent Wednesday night about the chances of Malone coming to New York. There were discussions for some time, and afterwards Malone's agent declared that Malone in New York is a 'long shot'. Other teams interested in Malone include: San Antonio, Los Angeles (rejected), and Miami. Side note: (Insider). According to this source it appears that Houston has been mentioned in trade talks with Toronto for Vince Carter. New York's package would likely include Houston, Tim Thomas, and Jerome Williams. New York would take on the ugly contract of Jalen Rose, Vince Carter and some other players(Not mentioned). Other teams, after seeing Vince Carter's play and his recent trouble with tendinitis have dropped out of the running for Carter-saying that he will never be able to play like he once did. _______________________^insider^__________________ *New York appears to be the front-runner for Carter (according to one of my other sources), as Portland is backing off of Rose's hefty contract.
Yeah I was reading about that in another forum. Talk about the Heat having a long shot, compared to the Knicks the Heat are looking like a favorite. Anyways great sig, totally agree. Peace.
I would love to get Malone. Imagine if we get him what he would do to Sweetney! Any way I doubt we will get him. Malone wants a team that he thinks can win him an instant championship. If he doesn't sign with us hopefully we can prove and win it this year! (I hope) Who knows, Isiah Thomas will probably trade Kurt Thomas soon after .
It's not gonna happen. Think properly, he wants a team with a chance at the championship! Teams like the Mavs, Kings, Pistons, Wolves, and Heat. In no way in <strike>hell</strike> is he gonna go to New York. It's true that it is a longshot so don't get excited over nothing. Because there really is nothing to be excited over. I'm guessing hes gonna go to the heat to be with his mate SHAQ and hook up with Dwyane. Thats like a family ahah. grandpa, dad, and little Dwayne. Awesome. I would love to see him in a Heat jersey. I'll tell you this: the Heat will make the finals! Edit: Please use better grammar next time. ---Knicks Analyst
Number one: Were pretty good at Karl Malone's position so what do we need him for. I know he's a good player and all but we dont need him. All he'll do is take minutes away from Sweetney and crush his development. Much like what happened to Frank Williams. Number two: Karl Malone will NOT sign with the Knicks. He wants a ring. He's going to go to a serious title contender. Most likely the Spurs or Wolves, maybe even the Heat but not the Knicks. "Long shot" is an understatement.

Quote:

"My job is to be interested in players, otherwise I wouldn't be doing my job," Isiah said. "I made a phone call to Karl Malone's agent. Did I reach out and try to make contact? Yes. Was he interested? No.
Now it's official. Isiah said that Karl Malone was not interested in coming to New York. His loss I guess. Link
What a surprise. Malone doesnt want to come to New York(sarcasm). Malone wants an easy ring. If he came to New York he'd actually have to work for it. So it's no surprise he's not coming.
