Manny Pacquiao says he plans to retire in three years and doesn't see himself boxing beyond the age 35. The boxing champion also told a news conference in Manila he's willing to fight Mexican Juan Manuel Marquez again but that the match would probably not excite fans. He sounded doubtful himself, saying "I would not watch Pacquiao vs. Marquez." Read more: http://sports.espn.go.com/sports/boxing/news/story?id=5837948
Still enough time to get a Mayweather vs Pacman fight in, which means still enough time to see Mayweather thoroughly dominate Pacquiao in a boxing ring.
LOL ya right. Mayweather could have fought Manny and turned it down. He pussied out, straight up. Manny is the most dominate fighter in that weight class, arguably ever. He cannot be stopped and really I don't know who can in that weight class. Mayweather will get dominated within the first 3 rounds. Manny is on another planet right now in terms of fighting.
Just because Mayweather could have accepted the fight and turned it down, doesn't mean that Pacquiao would win that fight. I don't know what Mayweather is worried about, but Mayweather is by far the best boxer on the planet right now. His combination of footwork, speed, a good jab, and great game plans would overwhelm Manny Pacquiao. Guys like Cotto and Margarito who lack the jab or speed of Mayweather, as well as the ability to fight in close quarters if Pacman gets close enough, were easily overwhelmed by Pacquiao's combination's. Those same combination's he would never get off on Mayweather. My bet would be that early in the fight you might see Pacquiao starting to do well, but as is typical in most Mayweather fights, his footwork and crisp striking in particular his crisp jab would overwhelm Pacuquiao heading into the later rounds.
You're underestimating Manny's' stamina. He can last, he just hasn't had to. No matter how many rounds this fight goes, Manny will win; I'll say, all but 1 round. Manny is as crisp as they come, so it'll be a good fight. Just, in the end, your pretty boy will be on the floor looking at the stars. Left hook KO by Manny...QUOTE THAT BABY!
1st off, I don't think it has anything to do with stamina. I know that Pacquiao has the stamina to go full boar for 12 rounds, and maybe even another 12 after that so long as he isn't taking much punishment. What I'm thinking, is it will be cumulative effect of all the shots he will be eating throughout the fight, in addition to the grind of 12 rounds of fighting. Mayweather lands an unusually high percentage of his shots cleanly, more than just about any other fighter out there. His punching accuracy is top notch. That is what usually tends to wear people down in his fights, is all of the punches he lands cleanly. I think the same would be the case in this fight with Pacquiao, especially given how Pacquiao likes to fire shots, mixed with the punches he will take, it's going to wear him down in my opinion. And while Pacquiao does throw some crisp, clean combination's, they aren't near as crisp clean or accurate as Mayweathers. It also helps with Mayweather being a sound counter puncher, I think Pacquiao's style of fighting plays right into Mayweathers hands. It would be an amazing fight, probably one for the ages, right there with the old Frazier vs Ali fights. That said, I'm seeing a Mayweather 12 round Unanimous decision in store for that fight. -And just for clarification good sir, Floyd is without a doubt, not MY pretty boy. Being a MMA fan, he has made some pretty disparaging remarks about MMA, and it's fans. I'm actually a Miguel Cotto fan. That said, I still believe Mayweather to be the best on the planet.
