Indeed, club manager Sir Alex Ferguson has announced that a work permit application will go ahead after the player was offered a contract. "We have had Manucho here for a 3-week trial and have been impressed enough to offer him a 3-year contract," he told the official club website. "He is a tall, agile, quick forward and through contacts that [scout] Carlos [Queiroz] has, [he] was brought to our attention around six months ago." It is possible that the forward, who has scored a total of 31 league goals in two seasons in Angola, could be transferred to a Portuguese club as part of a loan deal to ease his transition to European football both on the pitch and off.
