"A few more games like Sunday night's and Jacques Lemaire might want to rethink coming out of retirement. Lemaire's return to the Devils' bench didn't go any better in Game 2 on Sunday night than Game 1 on Thursday. In fact, the Devils' 4-1 loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs at Prudential Center didn't look much different than the first 33 games of the season when John MacLean was coaching the team - except for the sparse crowd. An announced crowd of 5,329 - the actual attendance probably was roughly half of that - braved the blizzard to watch the Devils lose their fifth consecutive game and 10th in 11 contests. They've been outscored 24-5 over their last five games, 9-2 since general manager Lou Lamoriello convinced Lemaire to suspend his retirement and coach the team for the remainder of the season. Lemaire said the Devils are in desperate need of practice time, which they will get over the next two days before hosting the Rangers on Wednesday."
