#2WBO middleweight contender Marco Antonio Rubio (57-6-1, 49 KO’s) pounded out a 12 round unanimous over Marcus Upshaw (15-9-2, 7 KO’s) to capture the vacant WBC United States (USNBC) middleweight title at the Centro de Espectáculos “La Macarena”, Uruapan, Michoacán de Ocampo, Mexico. The final judges’ scored were 120-107, 117-110, 117-110. This was the 32-year-old Rubio’s fourth consecutive victory since his 12 round unanimous decision loss to former WBC middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. last year in February.
