<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>With voluntary workouts beginning this week at the US Airways Center, newly acquired backup point guard Marcus Banks has gotten his first opportunity to play alongside a handful of his new teammates.

Workout participants have also included primary playmaker and two-time NBA MVP Steve Nash, returning All-Star big man Amar? Stoudemire, as well as veteran sharpshooter Eric Piatkowski, another offseason addition.

"I wanted to come down, get here early and get in shape," Banks said. "We leave (for Italy) on September 29th and I want to be ready. I'm coming off a pretty solid year last year and want to continue stepping my game up and this is a great chance to do that."

Suns Vice President of Basketball Operations David Griffin feels the UNLV product?s showing this week has already been enough to raise eyebrows.

"I think (assistant coach) Phil Weber is doing a great job working with him and his shooting has really impressed me," Griffin said. "Phil is an amazing shooting instructor and I'm really looking forward to watching Marcus this season."</div>
Marcus is a good player, and a very hard worker. But the most eye catching thing in this is that his shooting is impressing coaches. Shooting has always been a weak point in his game, so this shows he is really working hard on his game. Marcus is going to be a good player in this league, I miss him in green, and I think you guys will absolutely love him in Phoenix.

In the words of Tommy Heihnson: "Way to go MAHCUS!!!"

Sweet. I'm really excited about the team this year. I know we had some great assistant coaches so hopefully they can keep working with him. I'm hoping for him to get some big minutes. Nash needs more rest and with Banks we may be able to have one of the fastest line-ups ever for some situations. banks, barbosa, raja, marion, diaw just a thought...

Banks is one of my fav players. I was hoping beyond hope we'd get him, but I figured he'd go with money. He didn't. What a great guy [IMG] Screw you, Joe Johnson.
