Say what you want about him having potential but honestly, this guy isn't that good. Everytime Kidd has been out and he's been given the green light to start and get a lot of PT he has always fallen flat on his face. I wonder what the Nets record is with Marcus Williams starting? I can probably bet they haven't won a game with him starting. I remember last year when Kidd went down for the two final games before the all-star game and Marcus got to start, he fell flat on his face back then too. Ironically they played the Raptors the last game before the AS break last year too and he's gotten owned both times. I know some will come in here and say well 11/5 isn't bad for just getting thrown into the fire but the thing that disgusts me is the 4 turnovers. The guy makes some of the LAZIEST passes I have ever seen and doesn't even put any effort EVER into playing defense. To sum this all up, Marcus Williams is meant for a back up role, not a starters role. To be honest I'm not even that impressed with his court vision. Coming into the draft we heard all about how he has the court vision and tools to be a starting PG in this league but this guy would honestly get owned playing against starting PG's around the league.
You know that "intensity" that Frank refers to when talking about Kidd? Marcus doesn't have it. He doesn't look like he cares about the game. I won't be happy about this team until him and Magloire are gone and we have another shooter and back-up pg on the bench. That's why if we could get Miller and Lowry from Memphis I'd be happy.
He had that intensity going into the season but seemed pretty bummed out once the injury hit. Last night he played decent. Nothing big but I'd say enough to be a good back-up to Devin Harris.

Occasionally he's had what Mark Jackson refers to as "fake hustle". How do you know he had the intensity heading into the season? He broke his foot on Sept 28th. They didn't even start camp.

Honestly he's been depressed since the injury...you can see it in his body language. Frank gives him a short leash so he has trouble developing rhythm. Then he learns that we just traded away his mentor for a 24 year old PG pretty much telling him he's a backup til he hits free agency in two years. Can't say I blame him for having trouble feeling intense. Not to mention RJ and Vince played horrible and put the team into a huge hole. Watch the tape...Marcus would have had at least 6 more assists if they had hit some of the shots he set them up for. Also Boone blew a dunk with a nice feed from Marcus. I'm not saying he lit it up...just saying he didn't suck.
He needs more playing time and to get his confidence up. I am not giving up on him yet but he should have shown something by now. he also seems to move slow as hell with the ball!!!??? armstrong is faster than him getting up the court.
im really disapointed in him, i thought he'd be a high octane PG that can get this team up and down the floor, he can, the prob is that frank runs a supposed structured offense that requires a certain degree of patience and time. its not just get up and down the floor, fast paced game, he wants to control every possession. marcus needs to be in a suns style offense where he can be free, if you will, and let the flow of the offense come to him. he'll NEVER do well here, in part due to frank
its also pretty gay that you all use him as a scapegoat even when the other two bald bozos suck and no one else other then swift has a good game
Marcus did a great job last year in the 2 games he started. In the first game he had 9 pts, 10 assists, 4 rebounds and 3 turnovers while playing against TONY PARKER, who only had 2 assists. Yes, they lost but they were playing the goddamn San Antonio Spurs. In game 2 he had 19 pts, 4 reb, 3 ast. They lost to the Raptors but this was a team that was missing Richard Jefferson. People need to stop hating on Marcus Williams, he's not Jason Kidd and he never will be but he is a worthy successor, and if we have Devin Harris here even better but Marcus is a top notch point guard.
IMO, somebody has violated Marcus in his brain. His facial expression "the whole world against me" pisses me off. I even doubt he is a man with his fragile-woman-like confidence.
