There's a rumor going around, after a tweet put out by ESPN, that the Mariners tried to trade Chone Figgins to the Braves. From what I've been told, from a pretty good source in Atlanta, that's not true. Turns out, it was the Braves who first approached the Mariners yesterday and asked about a Figgins deal. From what the source told me, the Mariners said Figgins was not available. It's not surprising that the Braves would try to get their hands on Figgins. After what happened just over a week ago with Don Wakamatsu and the overall numbers Figgins has put up, there's a perception amongst teams that his value has come down. That usually brings out teams looking to snatch a good piece for considerably less than they might normally pay. "He's not exactly having a great year,'' my source said.
