Do you guys think Manning or Culpepper will break Marino's 48 TD season record this year? It looks like Manning's got a serious shot...
You can scratch Culpepper from the list for sure, he wont do it. Manning will hit 40 but i dont think 48 is realistic, but know he throws for 4 tds and its like "yeah, so" It is becoming a habit, and when they get to goal they ALWAYS throw it in. If i did not know better, i would say they are trying to break the record.
Yeah, that's an interesting take. Edgerrin James is still running wild. They could run the ball 30 times a game if they wanted to, and probably be just as good on offense. Manning calls or audibles 90% his own plays, though. I'm sure he'd rather pass than hand off. I think he wants the record. I know he's mentioned a bunch of Favre's records that he wants to break.
I don't see either QB doing it, although I think both have a good shot at having over 40 TD's for the year. Once Moss gets back, Culpepper's TD numbers are going to go through the roof. Manning is just simply unbelievable. If anyone breaks Marino's record, it will be Manning.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (vikingfan)</div><div class='quotemain'>Once Moss gets back, Culpepper's TD numbers are going to go through the roof.</div> This why i dont think Culpepper can do it, he is not half as prodcutive without moss. He spreads the ball to everyone, but as far as TDs he uses moss like a crutch. If moss is not open for the TD he is 10% as effective. Manning can hit anyone at anytime and if you arent watching you face his wrath.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Pack Attack)</div><div class='quotemain'>I know he's mentioned a bunch of Favre's records that he wants to break.</div> What record does Farve have? I can only think of one, the 3 straight MVPs....
He wants to break the consecutive starts record... Well, and win a Superbowl. And have 12 straight seasons of 3000 or more yards passing. And 12 straight non-losing seasons... And ten straight seasons of 20 or more passing TDs... Shall I go on?
You mean Jim Marshalls consecutive starts record? Favre's is not a record, other players have gone longer....Winning a Super Bowl is not a record, 1000's of players have done it....Everything you mentioned had to do with doing something more times in a row, not more times than others, those are streaks, not records....most career 3000 yard seasons, thats a record, most career TD passes, thats a record....most TD passes thrown in the state of Wisconsin by a player wearing a number lower than 5 but higher than 3? thats just mumbo jumbo twisted to make players seem better than they are....I give Favre credit for a hall of fame career, but he owns no NFL records.....Statistics can be skewed to say what you want them to say, 89% of people know that....
Yes, I would agree. Favre said that no one will ever break Unitas's streak. He said he certainly wouldn't.
What Unitas did was not as impressive as 56 by dimaggio, but man that is not an easy feat to acomplish. Those 2 plus the dolphins undefeated season and the celtics 8 straight titles are things that will never be broken or tied
I don't know which is girlier; posting with an effeminate pirate avatar or talking about baseball on a football site. I think both Marino's single season TD record and Unitas' streak are amazing feats. I'm tired of hearing how difficult baseball is compared to other sports. All they have to do is hit, throw and catch and they have all day to do it. Throw in a 30 second play clock, blitz packages and a play book, then I might give them a little respect.
WOW, i would expect someone from Louisville to have more respect for baseball. It definately wasnt meant as a knock on Marino. I am sorry but hitting a ball traveling at 96 MPH while it moves from left to right and down an indeterminate amount of space with a wooden bat is not hta easy. I think football players are way manlier. I am more like a johnny depp type pirate in real life so i am cool with the pirate joke.
Some of the baseball bashing is just me goofing, but I honestly do think that football is more complicated and intricate than any other sport. The playbooks are enormous. You have to have your eleven guys functioning as a unit. They have to carry out their assignment and deal with the unexpected off the cuff. I don't see how QBs can concentrate on reading their receiver progressions while being aware of the pocket and making the decision to run or stand and throw the ball. There's just so much going on at once and when the play is done, they have to get the next play called and do it again. I can appreciate that hitting a baseball is extremely difficult, but they do have the opportunity to focus on doing just that. Just for the record, Louisville is a college basketball and football town. I have been to the Louisville Slugger Museum and toured the factory. It's pretty cool. Oh, that reminds me that I need to get up there while the Bugs Bunny and Baseball exhibit is still there. I would like to get up to Slugger Field for a Riverbats game, but just because I haven't been in the park and it looks really cool from the outside.
