Absolutely and Miami is a team who desperately needs to improve quick, otherwise DWade is going to bolt. This trade could be the start of a domino effect across the league. Apparently John Paxson is resigning and Memphis turned a trade for Amare. Maybe the Warriors are the front runners now in the Amare sweepstakes with all their competition dropping out of the race.
What about the Cavaliers? they have $20 mils expiring in Wally/Snow. They could give one of these up in a trade for Amare. Could they keep LeBron if they traded Wally + Pavlovic for Amare? Amare + LeBron would be pretty fun to watch.
Those would be real low ball offers relative to what PHX is reportedly asking for. I'd love to get a 3 way where we send Mags or Jack or Craw to Cle, Cle sends one or both of their expirings to PHX and we also send some young-ins/picks to PHX for Amare. That way the Suns get expirings and picks/prospects, Cleveland gets another good player to pair with Bron and make a title run, and GS gets Amare while keeping Monta and Beans- though I would imagine it would cost us a lot of our prospects; Randolph, Beli, Wright, 09 draft pick. Maybe PHX wants MWill for his expiring or CJ because he can backup Nash competently? I'd do a trade of Jackson (assuming Cleveland demands him because hes the best of the three, has championship experience, appears to be the best fit next to LeBron), Wright, Beli, and even Azu/Turiaf/CJ/09 pick to get Amare. I figure Wright is better to send off in an Amare trade instead of Randolph because Randolph has potential at the 3 spot. They may demand Randolph though. It'd be tough to see Beli go but if it meant the difference between getting Amare I'd have to do it. Anyway, we have a lot of young talent/prospects/picks, we just lack the expiring contract. Cleveland may try to get Amare themselves and hold the Suns hostage with an offer of expirings and Hickson + a pick though.
Do you think the Warriors would be able to re-sign Amare and Cohen would be willing to max him out? The Warriors would have some top heavy contracts with Monta, Beans, & Amare, not a good situation with a cheapskate owner.
I would imagine that if a deal happened they'd talk to Amare about re-signing. They wouldn't want him here as just a rental while trading off their prospects and being left with nothing in a year and a half. As for Cohan, yeah he'd probably want to shed some salary but that's do-able. Also take into account the increased revenue the team would have with Amare. Lots more endorsements, exposure, ticket and merchandise sales, etc. Only problem is despite the team sucking ass people still show up to games so Cohan has little incentive to put out a winning product.
