<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Sports Illustrated - Shawn Marion has only been a member of the Miami Heat for days, and despite his new team being the worst in the NBA, according to Sports Illustrated he said on Friday that he would not mind sticking around for the long haul. Marion has an escape clause in his contract in the form of a a $17 million player option for next season, yet indicated that if he had to choose now, he'd lean toward staying in Miami. "I'm here and I'm ready for a new start," Marion said. "I'm in it for the long haul." Pat Riley believes that Marion and Dwyane Wade could be the new Michael Jordan - Scottie Pippen guard-forward tandem of the NBA.</div> http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2008/bask...tml?eref=si_nbaSource
Interesting. While Marion is a fine player, as the Heat I would like to have some flexibiity going into the off-season and I wouldn't mind him opting out. If Marion is to recieve another contract, he will not be making the max, and it won't be as much as what he's making now. But also Miami can look at someone like Elton Brand who was their first option back when they signed Odom and had interest in the team.
I hope he sins with the Heat, cause if he doesn't Miami might looks at Smoove and they have the money to get his attention.
