<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Everybody has a story. Shawn Marion's isn't told, because in a league of self-promoters, he is neither camera greedy nor camera savvy. "I'll be friendly to anyone I meet, say 'hello, how you doing.' But as far as letting people in here?" Marion said, pointing to his chest. "Few get in. It's the only way I know." </div> Source A good read. Marion certainly is an underrated player in the league, not garnering as much attention as some of our other players, but he sure deserves it. Hopefully he gets some decent gametime in the All-Star match, will be awesome to see him flying around. I also find it amazing how many acts of generosity go unnoticed in the league. Notoriety fills the headlines, but the acts of charity and kindness obviously don't rate for the news.
I was just on my way here to post this article. Marion's story is one of the few in the NBA that really touch me. I can't stand all this talk of all the players that come from poor backgrounds, and how we should idolize them now that they're rich. They make it in the league, and the become the biggest jerks in the world, worrying about nothing more than how big of an endorsement deal they can get, and how much commercial time they can get. Despite all of his money, and the potential for a lot of fame, Marion keeps a low profile, and is happy to help those in need, withouth having to brag about it. He is really what professional sports should be about.
