The Marlins four-game losing streak has produced a piece of dubious history: The team went 0-for-6 with runners in scoring position in Monday night's 7-1 loss to the Pirates, setting a franchise record of 35 straight hitless at-bats with runners in scoring position. "I have no explanation for that," Marlins manager Edwin Rodriguez said. "They've been trying, they come back to the clubhouse and the dugout and you can tell they are not pleased. It is not a matter of not trying, it is not a matter of lack of effort. It's just one of those things. We have to try to make adjustments to the way they have been pitching us." The four consecutive losses have been frustrating and led to a players-only meeting after Monday night's loss to the Pirates. "We talked about a lot of different things," Marlins second baseman Dan Uggla explained. "It doesn't take a genius to figure out that we've been flat for the last five to eight games. It just so happens that we won in Washington, but even there I think our intensity could have been better and we have to take it upon ourselves as professionals and as a team to be more competitive, be more focused when we're playing and have more intensity, that's the biggest thing."
